British Judge Enid gets stunning entry at Lancashire Heeler Show Sweden - 27-08-2011

Enid Lord (Foxthyme) was presented with an entry of 96 Heelers, an enviable situation for any Heeler judge. Pictured below, left to right, are:

Congratulations to all involved for such fantastic support for the Lancashire Heeler Breed. Enid Lord mustered a fantastic entry of 96 Lancashire Heelers in Sweden this month

Sweden - September 2010

Dear friends in the UK:

The Swedish Lancashire Heeler Club has organised a jubilee show this year celebrating 20 years as a club! Our jubilee judge was Mrs Liz Cartledge from England. There were people and dogs all the way from Finland, I can say that the show was much appreciated and we had a great entry, with all the breeders classes, special classes and entered dogs we were well over 90 numbers! Weather was good to us and after the show some of us had a nice meal together. This official club show is held every year in August, we also have one open show in March in Järbo where we also have our AGM. Last year we tried having an open show in the Autumn and we tried a venue in the southern parts. The show had quite a good amount of entries so we will try again this year.

Last year we had 140 Heeler registrations, only 3 of them were imports. This year so far we have had 70 Heelers registered by the SKK and 2 of them were imports, 33 bitches and 24 dogs were used, so our breeders have been busy!

The book that we are now printing will be the first Handbook ever in Sweden. We have all kinds of articles included and focus has been set on our members presenting their Heelers and their views so the book will have articles on agility, obedience, heelers at home - pet Heelers, Heelers working, show Heelers, stud dogs and brood bitches and of course: articles on the Swedish Lancashire Heeler Club. I will write a short initial article in English but otherwise the book will be in Swedish, however, there will be photos of Heelers and pedigrees and if anyone overseas would like to buy we would be more than happy to bring some over when anyone of us is coming to visit.

Also we are holding a seminar at Strömsholm in October, Saturday 16. We will listen to one of the head ophtalmologists lecturing on eyes and more closely on the situation in PLL in Sweden and also on the subject of DNA testing which has been an issue of debate lately over here. After lunch we will go on presenting the results and statistics taken from a recent health survey that our club has conducted and also discuss some statistics taken from the Avelsdata - database that the Swedish Kennel Club keeps. We will end the day discussing and teaching everyone present the new rules and regulations in showing that appear from January 10 2011! There are some main alterations of the rules that people need to know of. I will send this information out to you at once when there is some printed info in English about this.

This above mentioned seminar has attracted quite a lot of people and I believe that we will be some 30 people getting together there. In the evening we will have a meal together. Let us hope that we can soon get together with Lancashire Heeler enthusiasts from the whole world and run a seminar and a show together, that could be something!"
