LANCASHIRE HEELER BREED REGISTER OPEN IN FINLAND!
The Finnish Kennel Club have now decided to open the Breed Register for the Lancashire Heeler in Finland. The aim is to help widen the alarmingly narrow genepool, thus maintaining the vitality of the breed.
Criteria for registration:
* the dog has to be at least 15 months old and microchipped
* the dog has to have been officially eye-tested according to PEVISA (breed-specific programme
for the prevention of inherited diseases and defects) regulations not longer than 6 months
previously
* the dog has to have been officially patella tested according to PEVISA regulations. At the
time of testing, the dog has to have been at least 12 months old.
* the dog has to be DNA-tested for PLL unless both its parents have been tested CLEAR.
* two show judges have to be in favour of accepting the dog into the breed at an assessment
arranged by the Finnish Lancashire Heeler Club.
If the judges do not consider the dog suitable for breeding, it can be registered in the EJ (not for breeding) register. The Club arranges these assessments when required. This protocoll is not for dogs whose parent or parents are already registered in Finland. All queries to The Finnish Lancashire Heeler Club Breed Committee.

WORLD RECORD ?!
We probably have a world record litter in Finland: Kukka (Bellsmond Smoke Sign) at kennel Marmalade's gave birth to ten healthy puppies on May 31st. She delivered 2 black & tan males, 3 liver & tan males, 4 black & tan bitches and 1 liver & tan bitch. It took only four hours to Kukka to get the job done. Father to this litter is a Swedish import Manfuls Luck of the Day.

The Adventures of Ainsley - a British Lancashire Heeler in Finland
Ainsley moved to Finland in the end of 2007. It was a typical Finnish winter day - freezing and snowing - but Ainsley was immediately adapting to the Finnish climate and enjoying his life in the North with loads of new friends - dogs and humans. A little bit later he got opportunity to date some beautiful heeler ladies, too!
