about this photo by Rodney Smith

Lancashire Heeler, TuckerTucker 1994 - 2006

Tucker was one of five boys we bred at home from his very characterful mother, Gracey, our first Lancashire Heeler.  Initially he went to a nice farm home but was returned back to us after a year when the family split up.  The original plan was to re-home him quickly but this became the standing joke as he attached himself to his original human family very quickly and was not going anywhere!  Appointed by the other dogs as ‘Guardian of the Pack Leader’ he never left either her side or whoever was the acting pack leader at any time.

Lancashire Heeler, TuckerWe would have no worries about Tucker in his re-incarnation.  Observing everything we did he acquired all the skills to cook, wash up, drive (particularly the horse box so no HGV problems there!), ride and groom horses, feed chickens, apply make up, shave, do the garden and with his idol Chris go triathlon training and even joined the army on intensive training (as long as there were no bangs!) on Salisbury Plain to name just a few.  He would get a job anywhere.

He was vital, lovable and intensely devoted.  We all miss him very much.
