The UK Lancashire Heeler Club
The dog is Lancashire Heeler 'Rolly' aka Cockleith Roland Rat who belonged to Mr. & Mrs. Ken Reynolds.
Ken writes "I thought you might be amused by these press cuttings featuring our Lancashire Heeler dog who was taken on parade as a mascot by The Light Infantry in Berlin in 1990.
The whole thing was a spoof against the Welsh Guards who had a goat as their mascot!
Rolly was 5 years old at the time.
Lancashire Heeler - Not Required on Parade
The Berlin Bulletin - 18 May 1990
In Berlin this week, especially for the Queen's Birthday Parade is Salamanca Roland of Lucknow, known to all ranks as Roland, the Regimental Mascot of The Light Infantry. Roland is an eighteen year old Lancashire Heeler and is the twenty-fith dog of his breed to wear the Inkerman Chain and the rifle green tunic of office.
Roland has been serving with the 2nd Battalion, where his duties have been varied.
He has had little time for drill and ceremonial duties, and at the request of the Colonel of the regiment (Major General Makepeace-Warne MBE, himself a former Commander of Berlin Infantry Brigade) he has been excused from the march past and double off.
He will, however, proudly stand alongside Connor and Billy at the dais to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, Deputy Colonel in Chief of the Regiment, to which he is proud to belong.

Pictures are of Salamanca Roland with his handler RQMS Bonner inspecting the Guard of Honour provided by the Bugle Platoon.
